Red Rock 'n Llamas Packing List
Your trip with Red Rock 'n Llamas is sure to be a memorable adventure.
However part of having lots of fun is being prepared for it! Even though
we provide the camping equipment essentials, there are a few things we want to be sure
you don't forget!
Personal clothing should include:
- comfortable footwear for the trail, such as water sandals or a light
weight hiking shoe. (Should be light but rugged and have a good lugged sole.
leather hiking boots do not work well in wet canyons, because it is impossible to keep
your feet dry. Modern light weight hiking boots work well, but don't spend a lot of money
on them, because water trashes them after several trips. High top boots are recommended
to help keep sand and pebbles out. Expect many stream crossings on all trips except trips
#6, Grand Gulch, and #8.)
- camp shoes (something very light and comfortable to pad around camp when
your hiking boots are wet: could be sandals, slippers or tennis
shoes)
- light weight long pants for hiking through brushy areas, or avoiding
insect bites
- plenty of durable socks
- swim wear (in season or for solar showers)
- light towel (we provide community hand towels for hand washing only)
- warm jacket or warm shirt in summer*
- rain jacket or poncho (yes it does rain in the desert)
- billed or wide brim hat
- sunglasses
* The desert is a hard place to figure the weather in. Especially in
the early spring or late fall, the day time temperatures can be very warm, reaching into
the 70's or even the 80's, with the night time temperatures dropping near freezing. It's
best to be prepared for both warm days and cool nights.

- we provide soap and shampoo and solar showers in season
- we provide strong sunscreen (not necessarily PABA free)
- whatever else you want to bring
