Wilderness Hiking and Llama Trekking in Southern Utah
Red Rock 'n Llamas offers llama trekking
eco tours into southern Utah's scenic
Escalante canyon country and the Glen
Canyon area. Choose between our guided,
fully outfitted and llama supplied adventure
hiking treks and specialty llama treks
such as a family or photography trip.
We offer guided hiking trips near our
Boulder, Utah home in the Grand Staircase/Escalante
National Monument and in other southern
Utah locations such as Glen Canyon National
Recreation Area, Rainbow Bridge National
Monument, and Cedar Mesa's Grand Gulch.
Let our llamas carry your gear while you hike in some of the most beautiful and remote
red rock canyons of Southern Utah. Llama trekking allows us to enjoy a comfortable base
camp where you'll be treated to a deluxe camping experience in a gorgeous setting, with
time to relax and reflect. Our pack trips give you a chance to learn about the new Grand
Staircase/Escalante National Monument and Glen Canyon with expert guides who have 20 years
of hiking and camping experience in the Southwest canyons.
On our treks we offer a different destination each month with varying skill level requirements.
Some of the llama pack trips are geared toward families and all age groups, while other
treks are more challenging. But, no matter which spectacular southern Utah canyon you choose
to hike, they are all exciting.

Highlights of some of our trips include:
- Grand Staircase/Escalante National Monument — explore the Escalante River,
beautiful red rock canyon walls, pour-offs, slot canyons, Anasazi petroglyphs and
rock art panels.
- Glen Canyon — This is an exciting time. As Lake Powell's water level recedes,
formally drowned canyons have begun to be exposed again.
- Rainbow Bridge — See
the largest natural bridge in
the world, plus seldom seen,
spectacular canyon scenery on
the Navajo Indian Reservation.
- Grand Gulch — A new Anasazi rock art panel or archeological site around
every corner! An archeologists dream!

Our base camps offer luxuries not often found in the wilderness such as hot showers and
delicious three course meals. Besides the exciting hikes, we find time to have open discussions
geared toward learning about the total ecology of the area. Our experienced guides love
to talk about the interesting geology of the canyons and mesas, as well as about the plants
and animals, archaeology and history of this beautiful yet challenging terrain.
We are proud to offer this unique hiking and camping experience with our string of gentle
and hardworking llamas. We use llamas because they are quiet, gentle, and leave little
impact on the land. Their sure footedness takes them places other animals cannot go. Llamas
have been used for centuries and are very well suited for this vast arid region.
